On Friday 15 May, nine young representatives from YMIC (London) headed to the stunning Lambeth Palace for a Thy Kingdom Come youth event with the Archbishop of Canterbury.
The evening brought together young people from across the South East for a mix of gaming, conversation, worship, and reflection - all inside the historic Great Hall. It was surreal seeing such a historic space filled with consoles, competition, laughter, and young people connecting together.

A real highlight of the evening was hearing from Archbishop Sarah Mullally in a live interview where she spoke honestly about faith, leadership, and the challenges young people face today, including her own discernment of living with dyslexia.
Towards the end of the night, the atmosphere shifted into a quieter and more reflective space with a digital detox session that included worship and journalling. In a world where most of us are constantly online, it was a powerful invitation to pause, reflect, and reconnect with God without distractions. We were especially proud that the digital detox resource used during the evening was created by our own Jess, YMIC Network Youth Worker, alongside the brilliant Revd Tom Clark.

Our young reps represented YMIC London brilliantly throughout the evening, and it was a joy to see them engaging so openly - whether through games, conversations, worship, or simply being together with other young Christians. The journey home brought out some brilliant conversations and reflections from our group. One young person shared how powerful it was to hear Archbishop Sarah speak so openly about her dyslexia, and how much it encouraged them in both their faith and confidence in their own abilities.

Huge thanks to the Thy Kingdom Come team for such a memorable evening. We came away inspired, reflective, and dreaming of a YMIC event in the palace!
